  • CPD011 Introduction to Homeland Security and Homeland Defense [syllabus]
    This course analyzes homeland security & defense strategies, objectives and key players. It explores the strengths and weaknesses of U.S. existing policies, procedures and operations to include wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the war against Islamist terrorism. 

    CPD012 Asymmetric Threats to Global Security and Stability [syllabus]
    This course is designed to introduce the students to transnational, asymmetric warfare, as conducted by terror organizations such as al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah. It scrutinizes asymmetric war’s tactics, techniques and procedures.

    CPD013 Law and Intelligence in Homeland Security & Defense [syllabus]
    This course hones in upon two critical players in the homeland security and defense game: the legal and intelligence communities. Students “deep dive” into the USA Patriot Act, its provisions and empowerments as they apply to the law enforcement, American civil liberties and intelligence operations.

    CPD014 The Interagency and Homeland Security and Defense [syllabus]
    This course explains what the United States government’s interagency is comprised of, how it works, and who the primary players are. It examines the challenges associated with bringing numerous agencies and activities together to perform effectively as one body.

    CPD022 Immediate Information, Strategic Communications, and U.S. Foreign Policy: Their Effects on Homeland Security and Defense [syllabus]
    This course examines the steep learning curve that the United States is currently experiencing with respect to its capability to affect timely, accurate, and credible global Communication to combat and defeat terror.

    CPD023 The Genesis & Sustainment of Terror Organizations [syllabus]
    This course examines the creation, evolution, modus operandi and political savvy of four major terrorist organizations: Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Tamil Tigers.  It studies the true momentum behind the causes for which these terrorists fight.

    CPD024 Comparative Approaches to Homeland Security and Defense [syllabus]
    This course examines, compares and assesses the homeland security and defense strategies, policies and procedures employed by nations in an effort to determine whether or not the United States is employing the optimum approaches to its security challenges.

    CPD032 Terror Attacks: Psychological Effects and the Management of Fear [syllabus]
    This course examines the psychological effects of terror attacks upon populations. It delves into the near and long-term effects of mass casualty attacks. It utilized the September 2004 Islamist attack against the Middle School # 1 in Beslan, Russia as the definitive example.

    CPD033 Terror Organizations and Their Participation in the Political Process [syllabus]
    This course studies how terror organizations can and sometimes must morph into legitimate, political entities. The three terror groups that are studied are Hamas, Hezbollah and the Irish Republican Army (IRA).
